The Court expresses great sorrow in reporting The Honorable John T. Nixon passed away on December 19, 2019.  

Judge Nixon was appointed as a United States District Judge for the Middle District of Tennessee on May 12, 1980, and faithfully served on the bench for almost 36 years.  Judge Nixon was Chief Judge from August 1991 until August 1998.  He assumed senior status on August 15, 1998, and fully retired in 2016.  Judge Nixon was highly respected, and he will be greatly missed.
